What to Expect

This style of massage is recommended for those wanting a full body treatment with the goal of relaxation or an overall decrease in tension. Applied at your preferred pressure, the therapist will use long, flowing strokes in order to promote the parasympathetic nervous system, the fancy name for our 'Rest & Digest' state (which is the opposite to our 'Fight or Flight', adrenal/alert state).

There will be an opportunity to tell the therapist where your main areas of concern are, and together you'll negotiate a treatment plan and which areas you would like worked on. The following areas are generally treated as part of a full-body Relaxation Massage: Back, Neck, Shoulders, back of Legs, front of Legs, Arms, and the Upper Chest/front of Neck region. It is optional to include massage of the abdomen, face, or head/scalp as part of your treatment.

Therapeutic Massage

This style of massage is considered to be 'the best of both worlds' when it comes to Relaxation and Remedial as your therapist will employ techniques from both modalities, including cupping. Using the regions outlined above as a guideline, you can determine how local or holistic your treatment is. If wanting more than one region treated, in order to receive the most benefit we advise considering the following before booking: one region - 30 mins, two regions - 45 mins, three regions - 60 mins, four areas - 75mins, and so forth. You may also wish to consider booking a full body Relaxation Massage and requesting more deep tissue techniques.

As private health rebates are not claimable for this service, there is no range of motion testing required which means that there is more "hands on" time during your appointment which many find to be an added bonus.

Sports Massage

Fox Therapies is delighted to formulate a treatment plan around your training and event schedule with you. Depending on where your appointment falls will determine whether the focus of the treatment is on flushing metabolic waste from your muscles or releasing off any built-up 'knots'. As with Therapeutic Massage, it is up to you how local and varied  your areas to be treated are though we advise at least 60 minutes for a full body. Your therapist may include Remedial Massage techniques such as trigger-point therapy and cupping as part of your treatment plan.

Conditions of Service

  • Student, Senior and Health Care discounts available upon presentation of a valid concession card.

  • Private Health Rebates are not available for Relaxation massage services. If you would like to claim a rebate, please make an appointment for a Remedial Massage treatment.

  • Relaxation massage treatments use oil as a default lubricant. The different styles above use their own aromatherapy blended oil to promote either relaxation or warming of the muscles. We use organic certified Australian cold-pressed rosehip oil for face massage. Please advise your therapist of any known allergies or if you do not wish to be treated with oil and we will gladly negotiate an alternative.

  • Your therapist may request a postural assessment prior to treating in order to assess where areas of tension are most prevalent.

  • Please advise your therapist prior to treating if you're intending to have sports taping done after your massage.

  • Any style of Relaxation Massage is available as a Mobile Service.

*Please note: we advise a minimum of 60 minutes for a treatment and that shorter appointments will mean less regions will be able to be addressed.
